Mister Motley is a bit of a ‘unlogical’ magazine about art and artists, always organized with a central theme. This is the first issue after its’ absence of six months, and we took the freedom to restyle the magazine: we gave it a new format, special typography, and peculiar layout. Our basic question is: “who is Mister Motley?”, which resulted of six different typefaces, that all reflect part of a ‘face’ of Mister Motley. Every issue slightly changes in design, following the theme, and the typeface changes with it.
We think the extensive use of special photography and archive material from editor-in-chief Hanne Hagenaars makes the magazine into one of Hollands’ finest! At the moment, we did the issues 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30.
