This set of six LED lightwalls was set up as a part of the renovation of the Cityplaza parking garage of Nieuwegein to make it less ‘unheimisch’. All of this being part of Lia Gielings’ vision of a ‘Garage Collection’ in Nieuwegein, this was the first parking garage to be realized. Starting from onomatopees that are derived from car sounds, we ended up with ZOEFFFFFF, TOET TOET, VROOOOM, BOEM IS HO, amongst others. Together with a coding system this resulted in a huge typeface that was printed on poly-carbonte plates.
Sound artist Nathalie Bruys made a perfect ‘soundtrack’ to go with it.
