Revisit Exquisit
1.500 m² exhibition
with Kaleb de Groot
28 May–20 June 2010
De Service Garage
Amsterdam
Amsterdam based artist initiative De Service Garage show the new 1.500 m² duo-installation of artist Kaleb de Groot and designer Roosje Klap. Revisit Exquisit is the closing exhibition of De Service Garage at the current location. De Groot and Klap took this as the starting point to rigorously cut open part of the roof to let the daylight inside the exhibition area, a reference to the cities’ recently demolished, hated and loved ‘New Wing’ of the Stedelijk Museum.
Revisit Exquisit are inflatables, fireworks, wood, concrete scupltures and silkscreens. The constructions, wood sculptures and reused artworks form the cyclic process towards an abstract dynamic installation. By integrating architectonical elements, such as the yellow presentation bases, De Groot and Klap question essential questions about the presentation of art itself.
The colorful serie of 26 silkscreens show forms that refer to specific elements of the installation. The 26 prints are built up in 26 printlayers – every layer its' own color and form reference to a letter of the alphabet – a direct ode to each others work and discipline (also see typography section here for the whole alphabet).
