Commissioned by
Mondrian Foundation, 2011

What Don Corleone has to do with the Mondrian Foundation? Well, the title of this forthcoming publication is An Offer You Can't Refuse, a popular saying that was launched by The Godfather himself in 1972. Don Corleone sits in his deskchair, holding a kitten in his lap. Bonasera stands in front of his desk, and he says: “I understand. You found paradise in America, you had a good trade, you made a good living. (…) You didn’t need a friend like me.”

The publication holds a critical essay by Erwin Jans on the prize that the Van Abbemuseum received for the project Becoming Dutch.
